The Bobath therapy
Bobath therapy is a subtype of physiotherapy , occupational therapy and speech therapy and is primarily tailored to adults, adolescents and children with motor impairments due to neurological dysfunction .
The therapy is based on neurophysiological and neurodevelopmental principles and is applied in cooperation with the patient's resources.

In the case of congenital or acquired cerebral movement disorders, developmental disorders with unclear genesis as well as neurogenic and muscular dysfunctions, special patient-dependent concepts are developed and adapted to the needs of everyday life.
The procedure
The basis of the therapeutic approach of Bobath therapy is the analysis of the patient's movement behavior, taking into account the patient's socio-emotional-communicative and physical ability.
A reference person is integrated right from the start. Together we work out what existing abilities the patient has in various areas of life. Through the close collaboration with the patient and caregiver as well as the therapist, difficulties and abnormalities in everyday activities are included in the treatment plan.
The goals
The biggest goal of Bobath therapy is to help those affected gain independence in everyday life. In addition, attempts are made to avoid secondary changes (e.g. joint stiffening).
